NAMA Facility Donors – the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS); the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU); the European Union and the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate (EKFM) – have approved funding to support the implementation of two ambitious NAMA Support Projects in Brazil and India as part of the NAMA Facility’s 5th Call.

The project in Brazil – Transformative Investments for Energy Efficiency in Industries (TI4E) – aims to promote industrial energy efficiency investments in the country and deliver a transformative push to Brazil’s energy efficiency market.

The project in India – Waste Solutions for a Circular Economy –  seeks to transform the Indian waste sector by scaling up and de-risking investment, strengthening the waste regulatory framework and ensuring uptake of the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle concept of an integrated circular-economy waste management system.

Both projects aim to materialize substantial reductions in GHG emissions and spark real transformation, in addition to providing significant co-benefits for people in Brazil and India.

Following the Detailed Preparation Phase, during which the projects worked to further elaborate their proposed project concepts, comprehensive Proposals were submitted to the NAMA Facility. Based on an in-depth assessment of the Proposals, Donors then approved the projects to enter the Implementation Phase.

The NAMA Facility’s support for these projects illustrates the Donors’ continued commitment to ambitious climate action.
